Frequently asked questions

Is there a separate fee for international students?

No. Shoolini publishes one per-semester fee table with an HP/J&K column and a non-HP column; foreign nationals pay the non-HP rate (for example INR 1,26,500 per semester for B.Tech CSE in 2026-27). Tuition rises about 5% a year, and scholarships of up to 50% can reduce it.

What is the climate like and do I need special preparation?

The campus is at roughly 1,500 m in the Kasauli hills, so winters are cold (near freezing in December-January) and summers mild. Heated rooms are available in Shoolini Residences at a premium; otherwise budget for warm clothing and a room heater.

How do international students reach the campus?

Fly into Chandigarh (IXC), about 65 km away by road; the university can arrange pickup on request. Delhi (DEL) is around 300 km and connects by Shatabdi train to Chandigarh or Kalka. Shimla's small airport is closer but has limited flights.

Can I do part of my degree abroad?

Yes. Shoolini runs semester exchanges with partners in the USA, UK, Europe, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and others with no additional tuition to the host, and offers 2+2 pathways. You pay travel, visa, insurance and living costs.

Are hostels compulsory and are they mixed?

The campus is residential and most international students live on site in the International Hostel. Hostels are separate for men and women, with freshers on separate floors, resident caretakers and women security staff on duty around the clock.
