JGU's global positioning is its main draw. The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 place its law school 35th in the world and first in India, politics and international studies 90th, and business in the 151-200 band; the university sits at 851-900 in the overall QS 2026 table. Faculty come from 50-plus countries and nearly half are international, with the small class sizes, Socratic teaching and heavy writing load of an American liberal-arts college.
International students apply through the Study in India portal or directly, usually with SAT, LSAT-India or predicted grades, and all live in campus housing. Fees are India's highest in the private sector, around INR 8-13 lakh per year depending on school, but a network of 600-plus partner universities, semester exchanges, dual degrees and a Delhi-adjacent location make it a serious alternative to studying law, policy or liberal arts in the UK or Singapore.

Frequently asked questions
Why is JGU so much more expensive than other Indian private universities?
Fees of roughly INR 8-13 lakh per year reflect small seminar classes, a faculty that is 45% international, a fully residential campus and extensive exchange programmes. The 2025-26 BA LLB (Hons) totals about INR 50.9 lakh over five years plus residence of up to INR 2.18 lakh a year; merit and need-based aid can cut this substantially.
Can I study law at JGU and practise in my home country?
The BA LLB (Hons) is a Bar Council of India-recognised degree. Graduates from Commonwealth countries typically need a conversion or bar course at home; JGU's law school has pathways with UK, US and Australian partners and strong preparation for LLMs abroad.
Is the campus safe and how do I get to Delhi?
The gated 80-acre campus at Sonipat Narela Road has 24-hour security and all students live on site. Delhi's IGI Airport is about 60 km and central Delhi roughly 45 km; the university runs shuttles, and the Delhi Metro's Yellow Line is reachable from the Narela/Samaypur Badli side.
Which standardised tests do international applicants need?
Law applicants submit LSAT-India or JSAT-Law, but foreign nationals with SAT, ACT, A-levels or IB results are generally considered on those plus an interview. MBA candidates use GMAT, GRE, CAT or JSAT-MBA; no test is required for most MA programmes.
How international is the student body?
JGU reports students from more than 70 countries, though foreign nationals are a small share (about 1% of 9,000-12,000 students); the larger global exposure comes from semester exchanges with 600-plus partner universities and a faculty drawn from over 50 countries.
