The campus is unusually self-contained: air-conditioned hostels, about 30 food courts, a convention centre, sports complex and the KIMS hospital all sit within a few minutes of each other. KIIT is paired with the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), a free residential school for tribal children, which gives the university a strong social-outreach identity that visiting dignitaries often remark on.

For foreign students the headline offer is the KIIT University International Scholarship Programme (KUISP), which waives 50-100% of tuition for international applicants (SAARC nationals excluded from the 100% tier in some schemes). Under the 100% tier a student pays only a one-time USD 500 registration fee and about USD 2,000 a year for an air-conditioned shared hostel room with four meals a day. Applications are free, no IELTS is required, and the International Relations Office handles visa letters and airport pickup.
