Vietnam e-Visa from Australia on an Indian Passport: The 2026 Guide

Vietnam is one of the easiest short-haul trips from Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. If you hold an Indian passport, you need the e-visa: here's how to apply from Australia, the airports to choose and the re-entry checks for PR holders and students.

Direct flights from Sydney and Melbourne put Ho Chi Minh City within a working day's travel. Australian citizens are on Vietnam's list for e-visas just like everyone else, and so are Indians, with one important difference: you apply as an Indian national.

Your passport decides. Australian PR or a student visa doesn't change your nationality. Indian passport holders apply for Vietnam's e-visa: USD 25 single entry or USD 50 multiple entry, up to 90 days, usually ready in about 3 working days.

Flying via Singapore? Your Australian visa or PR can make you eligible for Singapore's 96-hour visa-free transit if you want a stopover.

Documents

  • Indian passport valid 6+ months after arrival, with 2 blank pages
  • Passport-style photo, white background
  • Scan of your passport photo page
  • Entry date, entry airport and hotel address
  • Card for the fee

Use your Australian address in the address fields and Indian for nationality. Don't upload your Australian visa: it isn't needed for the Vietnamese application.

Before you fly back to Australia

  • PR holders: check your travel facility (usually 5 years from grant). Expired? Apply for a Resident Return Visa before you leave.
  • Student visa holders: travel in semester breaks, stay enrolled and keep your CoE handy.
  • Bridging visa holders: many bridging visas end the moment you leave Australia. Check before booking.
